Alice in Wonderland is a 1951 american animated musical fantasy adventure film produced by Walt Disney Productions and based on the Alice books by Lewis Carroll. The 13th Disney animated feature film, the film premiered in London on July 26, 1951, and in New York City on July 28, 1951. The film features the voices of “Kathryn Beaumont” as alice, Sterling Holloway as the Cheshire Cat, and Ed Wynn as the Mad Hatter.

Alice in Wonderland follows the story of a young girl named Alice who falls asleep while reading a story and dreams about falling down a rabbit hole. She finds herself in a strange and fantastical world,filled with talking animals and peculiar creatures. She encounters a White Rabbit who is running late, and decides to follow him. Along the way, she meets various characters such as the Cheshire Cat, the Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts and the King of Hearts. Alice Struggles to make sense of this is a dream. She wakes up and finds herself back in her normal world, but with a newfound apprecation for the power of imagination.

One aspect of filmmaking in the 1951 animated film “Alice in Wonderland” is the used of the multiplane camera. This camera allowed for the creation of move dynamic and realistic movement and depth in the animation, as it enabled the animators to shoot different layers of the animation separately And then composite them together. This technique was first used in Disney’s 1937 film “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and was also used in “Alice in Wonderland” to create the illusion of the characters moving through the fantastical settings to this story.

Kathryn Beaumont, who was just 10 years old at the time, lent her voice to the character of Alice. Beaumont’s performance as Alice was praised for its innocence and curiosity. which perfectly captures the character’s wonderment and confusion as she explores the strange world of Wonderland.
